What a weekend NEBMX had in Cheddar at rounds 1 and 2 of the 2007 National series.
We all made our way to Cheddar and the weekend started with practice on Saturday. The weather was tremendous with numerous team members looking like they had spent the day following the sun.
Unfortunately Alan had a nasty crash during gate practice and was unable to race due to having a thigh twice the size of what it should be.
Saturday started wet but the track dried out and the racing was fast and furious. NEBMX had an excellent day ending with some magnificent results.
Dan progressed via the semis to the B final which he won. Adam and Jack were in the biggest age category of the day, the 13/14 yrs. Both progressed to the B final that Adam won. Jack rode his heart out at his 1st ever national coming 4th. Jenny moved up to the 10-12 girls making her way into the A final where she came 5th. I rode the cruiser to 2nd in the A final in the 40+. Unfortunately Mary was ill and could not race. Race number one was over with it all to do again on the Monday.
Monday morning brought heavy rain with the moto’s being run in wet and windy conditions. However the riders all got on with the job having experienced much worse weather during the hard winter training at our track.
Mary was back after eating a massive steak the night before, going on to win the B final in the 7-9 yr old girls. Dan repeated his result from day 1 again winning the B final. Adam was unlucky not to make the A final after some tremendous 1st straights; he went on to an excellent 2nd in the B final. It won’t be long before they all get some results in the A finals. Jack again put in a tremendous effort but was unfortunate to get 5th in the quarter finals. I am sure he will come back stronger for the next national. Jenny stayed consistent again achieving 5th in the A final in the 10-12 girls and I came 3rd in the A final in the cruisers.
The full results and rankings can be found on the British Cycling website. Roll on the next 2 rounds at Bournemouth, but in the mean time there is Preston regional next Sunday 13/5/07.
Coaching is on this Thursday and gates are on Saturday morning.
See you later
